When you are in Las Vegas, visiting one or more of the city’s many nightclubs is always at the top of your to-do list. However, unless you know the rules most clubs follow, there’s a good chance you may not even get in the front door. To make sure you have a nightclub experience you’ll remember with a smile, here are some rules you’ll need to follow.
Have the Proper Identification
If you happen to be a younger person or someone who does not look you’re age, the first rule for Las Vegas nightclubs you need to remember is to always bring proper identification with you to the club. This can be your driver’s license, military ID card, passport, or official state ID card. If you think you’ll be able to use someone else’s ID card to get into that exclusive club you wish to visit, think again. In Las Vegas, club security guards are well-trained at spotting ID scams, so don’t waste your time or theirs by trying something that won’t work.
Dress Codes
Generally, all nightclubs in Las Vegas are fine with you wearing casual attire. However, it has to be what is known as “upscale casual” attire, meaning you’re probably not going to gain entrance if you show up wearing baggy pants, tennis shoes, ballcaps, or other similar attire.
For men, “upscale casual” attire refers to tight-fitting, trendy, clean clothing, much like you would wear to an important business meeting. While you don’t need a tie, wearing a button-down shirt and stylish pants will usually work fine. As for women, trendy jeans or dresses are usually looked upon favorably. While it’s fine to show off your figure, trying to show too much of a good thing by wearing an ultra miniskirt or other inappropriate attire may leave you on the outside looking in.
Also, remember that since club personnel who are working the front door do have discretion in certain situations, it is always possible you may see someone gain entry despite wearing something that may be borderline good or bad. In these cases, chances are the person is well-known by the club’s staff or owners or is a Vegas high-roller who’s known for spending lots of money at the club.
Be On Your Best Behavior
Once you’re inside a Las Vegas nightclub, it’s certainly fine for you to start unwinding and having fun with your friends and others at the club. However, this doesn’t mean you can do anything and everything you wish. For example, you’ll be required to be polite and courteous to club staff, especially the servers. You’ll also need to keep your hands to yourself since this will definitely get you a quick exit before your evening barely gets started. Should you create a scene at most clubs, the least you will get is removed for that evening. If your behavior is considered to be bad enough, you could find yourself banned from the club permanently.
Don’t Show Up Drunk
If you want to have a drink or two before heading out to your favorite Las Vegas nightclub, there’s nothing wrong with this at all. However, if you let yourself go a bit too far before leaving and wind up at the front door of the club already drunk or clearly inebriated, it’s almost certain you will be denied entry.
Nightclubs in Las Vegas are extremely strict about this rule since they can face a huge financial liability if they let you in and serve you alcohol when you’ve already had too much. Should you get in a car and be involved in an accident, the club could be found liable in a lawsuit. Because of this, club security personnel will not bend this rule in the least, so keep this in mind.
Even though what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, this doesn’t mean you don’t still have to follow some rules along the way. By knowing what is expected of you at the club you wish to visit, you can still have plenty of fun with your friends. By dressing appropriately, having your ID, and behaving yourself, you’ll have a night filled with fun.
